In the early morning hours of November 5, 2024, the life of 35-year-old Orlando Pinzon, a male resident of Denver, Colorado, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. in the 10100 block of East Harvard Avenue, near the intersection of South Parker Road and South Havana Street. Pinzon was discovered at the scene with a gunshot wound and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The coroner's office would later confirm that the cause of death was a gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
The investigation into Pinzon's death quickly focused on a suspect, 23-year-old London Boyle. According to police, Pinzon and Boyle were acquainted, and the fatal encounter may have stemmed from a prior conflict. A witness who was with Pinzon at the time of the shooting told investigators that as they were getting into a car, Boyle approached and immediately attacked Pinzon. The witness reported seeing a gun and a flash before Pinzon fell to the ground. Following the shooting, Boyle allegedly attacked the witness as well before fleeing the scene. In his haste, Boyle reportedly dropped his cell phone, which was recovered by investigators. The phone was later found to have been remotely wiped approximately three hours after the shooting.
A possible motive for the deadly confrontation emerged, suggesting it may have been related to a drug debt. The witness indicated that over the summer, Boyle had sent Pinzon $40 for a drug purchase that Pinzon never fulfilled. It is believed that Boyle was angered by this theft, leading to the fatal events of that November morning. Based on the witness's testimony, who later identified Boyle in a lineup with confidence, and other evidence, Denver police issued a warrant for London Boyle's arrest on a charge of first-degree murder.
The search for Boyle concluded on Monday, January 13, 2025, when he was apprehended in Galesburg, Illinois. The Galesburg Police Department, acting on information that Boyle was at a residence on Grand Street, located and arrested him at approximately 4:15 p.m. Boyle appeared in a Knox County court and awaits extradition to Colorado to face the murder charge in connection with the death of Orlando Pinzon.
