In the early hours of February 4, 1979, a violent altercation erupted in the parking lot of Los Pancho's Restaurant, located at 4780 Tejon Street in Denver, Colorado. Responding to reports of a large fight, Denver Police Department officers arrived to find that several gunshots had been fired during the melee. Tragically, 27-year-old David Moreno was fatally wounded in the incident, and another male victim sustained injuries but survived.
