In the early morning hours of February 4, 1979, a large fight erupted in the parking lot of Los Pancho's Restaurant and Lounge in northwest Denver. Amid the chaos, several gunshots were fired. When the altercation subsided, 27-year-old David Moreno, a Hispanic male, was found dead, and another man was injured but survived.
Denver Police Department officers responded to the scene at approximately 2:10 a.m. and began an investigation into the shooting.
Despite their efforts, the case eventually went cold, and no suspects were ever publicly identified or arrested in connection with the murder of David Moreno. The case remains an unsolved homicide.
Decades later, the Denver Police Department's Cold Case Unit continues to seek information from the public that might lead to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for Moreno's death. A reward of up to $2,000 is available for information that could help investigators solve this long-standing case.
