On January 5, 2018, a tragic incident occurred outside the New Welcome Inn bar located at 3759 Chestnut Place in the Five Points neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. Guillermo Ornelas, a 43-year-old man, and his friend, Refugio "Wolfie" Herrera, who was identified by family members as being 38 years old (though some reports list him as 35), were both fatally shot in this violent incident.
