In the early hours of Thursday, March 27, 2025, the quiet of a Prichard neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunshots. On Helen Street, 35-year-old James Wright, a Black male, was found dead in a driveway, the victim of a fatal shooting. The sounds of the shots, described by neighbors as a rapid "pow pow pow pow," were followed by the screeching of a car speeding away from the scene.
