Svante Ebinare Hinton, a 35-year-old African American male from Knoxville, Tennessee, died on September 1, 2014. His death was linked to a series of events that began on August 30, 2012, when he was involved in an altercation that led to him shooting a man named David Williams on Parkview Avenue in East Knoxville. Hinton initially struck Williams in the shoulder, and when Williams attempted to retreat, Hinton fired several more shots at him.
