In the winter of 2016, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence that remains a painful mystery for his family and community. Hugo Omar Alfaro, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of January 29, 2016, in the parking lot of the Stone Ridge Apartments on Piccadilly Row in Antioch, Tennessee, where he resided. The attack happened sometime before 8:19 p.m., shattering the evening's quiet.
Responding to a call of shots fired, Metro police officers discovered Alfaro wounded in the parking lot. He was quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries. In the immediate aftermath, a witness reported seeing a man dressed in all black with white tennis shoes running from the scene, disappearing between two of the apartment buildings. A police K-9 unit was brought in to track the suspect, but the trail went cold within the apartment complex, leaving investigators with few leads.
In the days that followed, the investigation took a turn when surveillance footage surfaced of an unidentified man using a debit card that was reportedly taken from Alfaro on the night he was killed. This initially gave police a person of interest and a potential motive of robbery. However, the man in the video soon came forward and, after cooperating with the investigation, was cleared of any connection to the murder. This development left the case wide open once more.
To this day, the murder of Hugo Omar Alfaro remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. Detectives continue to seek information from the public, hoping for a break in the case that will bring justice to Alfaro and his loved ones. The community is still urged to come forward with any information they may have, no matter how insignificant it may seem. The tragic and untimely death of a young man in the prime of his life has left a lasting scar on the Antioch community, a stark reminder of a life taken too soon and a killer who has yet to be held accountable.
