On a February evening in Antioch, Tennessee, a 34-year-old male named Steven Ross Yates was fatally shot outside of his workplace. The incident, which took place at a candle manufacturing company on Old Franklin Road, was later determined by investigators to be a targeted event. Yates, a resident of Mt. Juliet, was discovered in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed towards a drug-related robbery as the motive.
Detectives identified two individuals believed to be responsible for the death of Yates. The first suspect, a 37-year-old woman named Nicole Tishma, was located and apprehended at a motel in Oak Grove, Kentucky. Her arrest was made on a probation violation warrant, and she was subsequently charged with criminal homicide. Tishma is being held in Kentucky, awaiting extradition to Nashville to face the charges against her.
Further investigation led to the identification of the second suspect, 31-year-old Patrick G. Cathey, who was identified as the suspected shooter. Authorities located and arrested Cathey in Coopertown, in Robertson County. He has been booked on a charge of criminal homicide. The investigation suggests that Yates had gone to the parking lot to meet with both Cathey and Tishma when the fatal robbery and shooting occurred.
