In the winter of 2016, a young man's life was cut tragically short in a violent encounter on a street in Antioch, Tennessee. Corvell Conley, a 21-year-old male, was behind the wheel of his black Honda Civic at the intersection of Rural Hill Road and Bridgecrest Drive on the evening of February 11th. It was then that a gunman, who had been a passenger in his car, opened fire, striking Conley in the jaw and neck.
The assailant then exited the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving Conley gravely wounded.
Emergency services rushed Corvell Conley to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for his life-threatening injuries. For a week, he fought for his life, but ultimately succumbed to the gunshot wounds and passed away. The Metro Nashville Police Department immediately launched a thorough investigation into the homicide. Detectives pursued strong leads, and their work began to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. During the investigation, authorities discovered marijuana inside Conley's vehicle.
Months later, the investigation culminated in the apprehension of two suspects. On June 7, 2016, law enforcement arrested 21-year-old Chad Edwards at an apartment on Hickory Highlands Drive. That same day, Jary Martinez, 20, was taken into custody in Murfreesboro. Both men were subsequently charged with first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery in connection with the death of Corvell Conley. Following their arrests, both suspects were held in custody to await trial for their alleged roles in the killing.
