On June 8, 2020, the life of 49-year-old Otis Christopher Meadows, an African American male, was tragically cut short in his Antioch, Tennessee, home. A veteran of the US Army with 22 years of service, he was a married father of three. On that day, his older son heard gunshots within the family residence and discovered his father's body near the front door.
Responding to a call about shots fired at the Pinebrook Trail home, law enforcement found Otis Meadows deceased at the scene.
The investigation that followed pointed to a suspect within his own family. Home surveillance footage captured his 18-year-old daughter, Trynity Meadows, holding a handgun at the front door before she fled the location. She was apprehended by police shortly after the incident.
Following her arrest, Trynity Meadows was charged with criminal homicide in connection with her father's shooting death. She declined to provide a statement to detectives. Reports indicated a history of domestic disputes at the residence involving Trynity and her father. In the months leading up to the fatal shooting, police had been called to the home on at least two occasions for verbal arguments and disturbances, though no injuries were reported in those prior incidents. The handgun used in the shooting was not immediately recovered.
