A tragic and violent encounter in the parking lot of an Antioch, Tennessee Burger King on January 23, 2018, claimed the life of 20-year-old Ronnie Tunstill. The events unfolded as an apparent drug transaction that spiraled into a fatal shootout.
That evening, Tunstill met with 26-year-old Marcus Lee in a Toyota Camry. What began as a supposed drug deal quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
Investigators believe Tunstill attempted to rob Lee, leading to an exchange of gunfire inside the vehicle. Both men sustained fatal gunshot wounds during the altercation.
When law enforcement arrived at the Murfreesboro Pike eatery, they found a grim scene. One of the men was pronounced dead at the location, while the other was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after managing to flag down an ambulance. Despite medical efforts, he too succumbed to his injuries.
Metro Police detectives characterized the incident as a 'dope deal/attempted robbery.' While the direct individuals involved in the shooting were identified as Tunstill and Lee, authorities also sought a person of interest who may have had information about the shooting. This individual was described as a white or Hispanic male who was seen in the vicinity of the crime scene. However, there have been no public announcements regarding the identification or questioning of this person, and no arrests have been made in connection with the double fatality. The investigation into the deaths of both Ronnie Tunstill and Marcus Lee remains open as authorities continue to piece together the events of that fatal evening.
