On the night of July 4, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the holiday peace on Jarvis Avenue in Chattanooga, Tennessee, leaving 28-year-old Marcus Cal, an African American man, fatally wounded. The attack was not a random act of violence but is believed to have been a targeted, gang-related incident.
