In the summer of 2019, a dispute over counterfeit money tragically cut short the life of 35-year-old Douglas Holmes in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The incident, which unfolded on Portland Street in East Chattanooga, escalated quickly, leaving a community to mourn and authorities to piece together the events of that fatal day. On June 24, 2019, Holmes was shot and killed following an argument. The man identified as the shooter was Jeremy Sutton, who was 20 years old at the time.
