A dedicated firefighter from New Orleans, Gregory Joseph Howard Sr., had traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, in August of 2017 with a sense of camaraderie and competition. The 36-year-old was in the city to participate in a basketball tournament for first responders, a trip that tragically ended in his untimely death. In the early morning hours of August 26, 2017, Howard became an innocent victim of a violent altercation that had no connection to him.
