In the winter of 2018, the life of 28-year-old Antonio Washington, a Black male, was abruptly and violently cut short on the streets of East Knoxville, Tennessee. On the night of January 17th, officers from the Knoxville Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Lay Avenue and Beaman Street around 11:25 p.m. following a report of an injured person. Upon their arrival, they discovered Antonio Washington, who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was already deceased.
