Hubert Johnson's death in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 14, 1969, remains one of the city's enduring unsolved mysteries. Johnson, 45, was found alongside Murel Marie, 61, inside a burned-out vehicle at Mead's Quarry, an area that is now part of Ijams Nature Center. The Knoxville Police responded to a report on September 13 about a burning car, and upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Johnson and Marie.
