In the early morning hours of February 27, 1982, a sense of unease settled over the Golden Gloves Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee. Fred 'Spike' Bailey, a 63-year-old male who served as a security guard for the venue, was nowhere to be found. A local boxing manager, Ace Miller, had been looking for him after midnight to no avail. Adding to the mystery, Bailey's 1974 pickup truck, a. 38-caliber revolver, and $700 in cash were also missing.
