In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 3, 2023, the life of 35-year-old Howard Elwood Jordan Jr. was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting at the Arbor Place Apartments in Knoxville, Tennessee. Known to his loved ones as 'E.J.', Mr. Jordan was discovered by Knoxville Police Department officers inside one of the apartment units with at least one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to 28-year-old Jesse Bailey Jr. as the primary suspect. According to police reports, there were two other individuals in the apartment at the time of the incident who alleged that Bailey had also shot at them, though they were unharmed. Following the shooting, Bailey fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement who considered him to be armed and dangerous.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit secured arrest warrants for Jesse Bailey Jr. on charges of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Shortly after a public appeal for information on his whereabouts, Bailey turned himself in to the Knoxville Police. He was subsequently taken into custody to face the charges related to the death of Howard Jordan.
