In the early morning hours of August 17, 2018, a vibrant life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence in Nashville, Tennessee. Jaime Sarrantonio, a 30-year-old female, was shot and killed during a robbery in the parking lot of The Cobra, an East Nashville bar. She and her friends, including 33-year-old Bartley “Brandon” Teal, who was also killed, were returning to their vehicle after a quick walk to a nearby convenience store when they were ambushed.
The night that had been a celebration of Teal's 33rd birthday turned into a horrific tragedy.
Jaime, originally from Connecticut, had moved to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University and had since built a career in the city's music industry. Described by friends and family as a bright and larger-than-life person with a kind and positive attitude, she was known for her infectious laugh and her ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and comfortable. Her death sent shockwaves through the Nashville community and beyond, leaving her loved ones to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a beloved daughter, sister, and friend.
The investigation into the double homicide led police to identify two suspects, Horace Williamson III and Demontrey Logsdon. It was revealed that the murders of Jaime and Brandon were part of a violent crime spree that included another homicide and multiple robberies. In the subsequent legal proceedings, both Williamson and Logsdon were tried and convicted for their roles in the killings at The Cobra. Both men were found guilty on multiple counts, including first-degree murder, and were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, bringing a measure of closure to the families of the victims after a long and painful journey for justice.
