In the late hours of a Monday night in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 34-year-old Charmaine Goodloe was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. On August 26, 2024, Goodloe was sitting in a breezeway with a friend at the Overlook Ridge Apartments on Buena Vista Pike when shots were fired from the parking lot just before midnight. She was struck multiple times in her legs and, despite the efforts of officers who rendered aid at the scene, she succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to
Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The police investigation suggests that the shooting was a targeted attack.
The investigation into Charmaine Goodloe’s death led to the identification of multiple suspects. On September 4, 2024, homicide detectives arrested 19-year-old Jabaree Q. Jones and charged him with criminal homicide. Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division TITANS unit took him into custody at an apartment complex on Cheyenne Boulevard. The ongoing investigation, which included a thorough review of surveillance footage, pointed to a second individual's involvement.
Following the initial arrest, the investigation continued, leading to a second suspect. On September 20, 2024, detectives charged 19-year-old Jeremiah Williams with criminal homicide in connection with the fatal shooting. At the time of his arrest by TITANS detectives, Williams was found to be in possession of a. 45 caliber pistol. In addition to the homicide charge, Williams faced several other charges, including gun possession during the commission of a dangerous felony, being a fugitive from justice for an assault on an officer in Kentucky, felony marijuana possession, and evading arrest. His bond was set at $284,000, while Jones was held without bond pending a hearing. Authorities indicated that more arrests could be forthcoming as the investigation into the death of Charmaine Goodloe continues.
