In the city of Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 30-year-old Autumn Suzanne Joiner was cut short on September 6, 2024. A creative and beloved individual, known for her talents in music, filmmaking, and painting, she was found fatally shot in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. Her death, initially reported as a suicide, would soon become the subject of a homicide investigation, revealing a story of a troubled relationship.
Her boyfriend, 26-year-old Jack Becker, was the one who
placed the 911 call, initially claiming that Autumn had shot herself in the head while they were in bed. However, his account of the events soon began to unravel. He later changed his story, suggesting that a pistol had accidentally discharged when his finger slipped into the trigger guard. This revised narrative did not align with the evidence gathered by homicide detectives. The investigation uncovered that Autumn had been unhappy in her living situation with Becker, pointing to underlying turmoil in their relationship.
Further investigation revealed that on the night of her death, Autumn had sent text messages to friends expressing her fear of Becker, stating that he was being 'aggressive and manipulative.'. She had also indicated her desire to end the relationship and for him to move out of their shared apartment.
