On August 7, 2017, three-year-old Elizabeth Dessie died in a tragic apartment fire in Antioch, a neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee. The fire broke out early in the morning, and despite efforts by firefighters, Elizabeth did not survive. Her mother, Ehitayehu Dessie, was later charged with aggravated arson in connection with the blaze.
