On a Tuesday in February of 2009, the quiet of a North Nashville neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. Thirty-two-year-old Angela Denise Stovall was found deceased at a home located at 1814 15th Avenue North. A man arriving to work on the ongoing renovation of the house made the discovery, finding Stovall at the bottom of the exterior basement stairs.
Investigators from the Metro Nashville Police Department were called to the scene.
An subsequent autopsy would later reveal that Angela Stovall died as a result of blunt force trauma, confirming that her death was a homicide. The circumstances surrounding her death and how she came to be at the residence remained unclear in the initial stages of the investigation.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case grew cold over the years. No suspects have ever been publicly named, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Angela Stovall. Her case remains an open and active investigation within the Nashville Police Department's Cold Case Unit.
