In the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 30-year-old Tameka D. Vines was fatally shot in her Nashville, TN, home on Magnolia Road. The tragic discovery was made by her young daughter at approximately 6:00 a.m. Vines' two daughters then ran to a nearby relative's house to get help. It is believed the shooting occurred sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Family members were left in shock, describing Tameka as a sweet person and a hardworking single mother of two.
She had moved to Nashville from Chattanooga about a year prior for a fresh start and was active in her church. Relatives could not think of any reason why someone would want to harm her. One of her daughters, who was home at the time of the incident, recalled hearing a loud thud, which she initially thought was a cabinet closing in a dream.
The Nashville Police Department investigated the homicide, and while they were looking for a person of interest, no name was publicly released. The case remains an unsolved cold case.
