Lois Fields, a 43-year-old woman from Dallas, Texas, tragically passed away on August 19, 2004. She was born in Terrell, Texas, on July 15, 1961, to Mr. Floyda Fields Sr. and Mrs. Effie L. Fields. Lois was a loving mother to three children: Jonathan C. Fields, Alexiss N. Fields, and Bryanna M. Latimer. She also left behind a large family, including her father, stepfather, four sisters, and five brothers.
The circumstances surrounding Lois Fields' death were part of a tragic incident that
also claimed the life of Darryl Sneed. Both Lois and Darryl were members of the same Narcotics Anonymous group. The incident occurred after an NA meeting on August 19, 2004. Yolland Dometric Latimer, who had a previous romantic relationship with Lois and was the father of her child, was involved in the incident. According to witnesses, Latimer shot Darryl Sneed multiple times, and Lois Fields was also killed during the altercation.
Yolland Dometric Latimer was later arrested and charged with capital murder for the deaths of Lois Fields and Darryl Sneed. The case, Latimer v. State, went to trial, and Latimer was convicted of capital murder. The court found that Latimer intentionally caused the deaths of both victims during the same criminal transaction. Despite Latimer's appeal citing ineffective assistance of counsel, the conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeals of Texas.
