In the summer of 2018, a neighborhood dispute in a Nashville, Tennessee mobile home park turned deadly, claiming the life of Visanh Vilayvanh, a 48-year-old Asian man. On August 21st, what began as a verbal argument between Vilayvanh and his neighbor escalated with tragic consequences, leaving a community in shock and a family mourning an unexpected loss.
The altercation took place in the 2700 block of Dickerson Pike, where Vilayvanh and his 53-year-old neighbor, Viengkham Chandy,
exchanged heated words outside of their homes. The disagreement quickly intensified, culminating in Chandy allegedly shooting Vilayvanh multiple times. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Vilayvanh was rushed to Skyline Medical Center for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the scene. Their investigation led to the swift arrest of Viengkham Chandy, who was taken into custody and subsequently charged with criminal homicide in connection with Vilayvanh's death. Chandy was then booked into jail, with his bond set at $1,000,000 as he awaited further legal proceedings. The motive for the fatal confrontation was reported to have stemmed from the ongoing dispute between the two neighbors.
