In the summer of 2020, a young Black man's life was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. Isaac Lamont Thomas, a 20-year-old male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of July 16, 2020. The incident occurred on the ground level of the Baymont Inn & Suites located on Elm Hill Pike.
According to witnesses, an argument preceded the fatal gunfire. Responding to a 911 call, police officers discovered Thomas critically wounded on the sidewalk.
He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The initial suspect was described as a Black man with dreadlocks pulled back into a ponytail, wearing a black shirt and white pants.
In the course of their investigation, Metro Nashville Police Department detectives identified a suspect. This led to the arrest of 27-year-old Jerome Perkins, who was subsequently charged with the murder of Isaac Thomas. The investigation revealed that Thomas was last seen getting into a car in Madison before his body was ultimately discovered in East Nashville on Fairwin Avenue.
