On the evening of October 16, 2020, in Nashville, Tennessee, a burst of gunfire shattered the relative quiet of a parking lot on Murfreesboro Pike. Inside a silver Toyota Camry, three men from Memphis found their lives irrevocably altered. When the shooting ceased, the driver of the Camry attempted to flee, pulling out onto the busy thoroughfare before crashing.
Responding to a shooting call at approximately 6:18 p.m., Metro Nashville Police officers discovered the crashed vehicle and
the three men inside, all of whom had been shot. One of the victims, a 23-year-old male named Johnathan Patterson, was critically wounded. All three men were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Johnathan Patterson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The other two victims, aged 22 and 23, were reported to be in stable condition following the attack.
The initial investigation by the Homicide Unit suggests that the occupants of the Toyota Camry were targeted by a suspect or suspects in another vehicle, believed to be a silver Lexus or a similar car, who opened fire on them in the parking lot at 1084 Murfreesboro Pike. Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle fled the scene.
As of now, the case of Johnathan Patterson's death remains an open and active investigation, listed as a cold case by the Nashville Police Department. Detectives are continuing to seek information from the public to help identify and apprehend the individual or individuals responsible for this fatal shooting. No arrests have been made, and no specific suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Johnathan Patterson.
