In the winter of 2020, a young Black / African American man named Latrell Grandberry, aged 26, was found deceased in Memphis, Tennessee. On December 21st, his life was cut short when he was discovered shot to death inside a car in the 4700 block of Manson Road. The violent nature of his passing sent ripples through the community, prompting an active investigation by law enforcement to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
The
investigation into the death of Latrell Grandberry led authorities to two individuals, Desmond Emery and Jonathan Rush, who were both 21 years old at the time. A significant breakthrough in the case came when a search warrant was executed at a residence on Grosvenor Avenue. During this search, investigators discovered and seized weapons and vehicles that were believed to be connected to the crime. This evidence proved crucial in linking the two men to the fatal shooting.
Following the discovery of the evidence, both Desmond Emery and Jonathan Rush were taken into custody and subsequently faced serious charges. The primary charge for both men was first-degree murder in connection with the death of Latrell Grandberry. In addition to the murder charge, they also faced accusations of theft of property and various weapons charges. Jonathan Rush had an additional charge brought against him for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
