On December 31, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee, three-year-old Brayden Smith was fatally struck by a stray bullet while inside his family's apartment. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the Edgewater Cove neighborhood when a bullet pierced a window, hitting Brayden as he watched television. He was immediately transported to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on January 3, 2024.
