In the summer of 2018, the life of Christopher Jordan, a 33-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short on July 11th in Memphis, Tennessee. An altercation that began at the Hillview Apartment complex on Alcy Road would prove to be the catalyst for the fatal events that followed. After the dispute, Jordan, accompanied by two women, left the apartment complex in a vehicle.
Their departure did not de-escalate the situation.
They were pursued by Robert Brittman, who was reportedly armed. As Jordan's vehicle turned onto Keen Road, Brittman is alleged to have opened fire, striking Jordan in the chest. The two women in the car with Jordan were physically unharmed. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Christopher Jordan was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, an investigation led to the arrest of 36-year-old Robert Brittman. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder for the death of Christopher Jordan. Additionally, he faced two counts of attempted first-degree murder related to the two women who were in the vehicle with Jordan at the time of the shooting, as well as a charge for the employment of a firearm during a dangerous felony. Another individual, 32-year-old Helen Carr, was also implicated and charged with false reporting for providing inaccurate information to the police during their investigation.
