In the summer of 2018, the life of 26-year-old Brandon Lipsey was tragically cut short in a violent encounter at a Memphis hotel. On the evening of August 6th, Lipsey was at the Garden Inn in the 4100 block of American Way when a dispute escalated into a fatal shooting. Another woman who was with Lipsey was also critically injured in the incident but survived.
Authorities quickly identified two female suspects, Jasmine Hunn and Marquisha Moore, in connection with the deadly shooting.
Investigators believed the incident stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute. Following the shooting, both women fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement.
Marquisha Moore was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team just two days after the shooting, on August 8, 2018. She was taken into custody in the 3500 block of Mendenhall. Hunn, however, managed to evade capture for several months. She was eventually located and arrested by the U.S. Marshals and Memphis Police in an apartment in the 7800 block of Sailors Drive on October 24, 2018.
Both Hunn and Moore faced serious charges for their alleged roles in the death of Brandon Lipsey and the injury of the female victim. The charges included first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and attempted first-degree murder. The case then moved to the judicial system for prosecution.
