On a tragic day in Memphis, Tennessee, a senseless act of violence claimed the life of Timothy Bernard Odum. On June 1, 2023, the 43-year-old Black male was fatally shot while sitting in his black SUV outside a convenience store at the intersection of King Avenue and Ford Road in the southwest part of the city. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found Mr.
Odum inside his vehicle, where he was pronounced dead.
The community was shocked to learn the brutal details of the crime. Surveillance footage revealed that Mr. Odum was attacked and robbed by a large group of people while he was in his SUV. In a particularly cruel act, his prosthetic leg was stolen during the assault. Following the initial attack, a man exited a black Ford SUV, approached Mr. Odum's vehicle, and fired multiple shots at him as he was trying to recover.
In the wake of this devastating event, Mr. Odum's family mourned the loss of a man known for his love for his family and his passion for cooking. A graduate of Mitchell High School, he was remembered as a cherished member of his community.
The Memphis Police Department has been actively investigating the homicide and has reached out to the public for assistance. They believe there may be at least two suspects involved in this heinous crime. To encourage witnesses to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible, a substantial reward of $25,000 has been offered through CrimeStoppers. Despite the circulation of surveillance video and the significant reward, no arrests have been announced, and the suspects remain unidentified.
