On January 10, 2023, the body of 27-year-old Larry Thorn was discovered behind a church on Gold Avenue in South Memphis. Thorn, a well-regarded secretary at A. Maceo Walker Middle School, had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, and his body had been set on fire.
