On May 13, 2023, 33-year-old Rodenick L. Winston Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery at Tug’s Casual Grill in the Harbor Town area. According to witnesses, suspects arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on the restaurant's patio, targeting an individual seated there. The assailants fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima, later dropping off Winston at a nearby fire station; he was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.
