In the late summer of 2021, a workplace dispute in Knoxville, Tennessee, escalated into a tragedy that ended the life of Danny Ray Smith. A 65-year-old White man, Smith was a resident of the area and a long-time employee of the shipping company YRC Freight. On the evening of Friday, August 20, 2021, an altercation between Smith and a coworker turned violent at their workplace on Hilton Road.
