On August 13, 2005, Maurice Nelson was fatally shot in his apartment on Smithfield Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. According to reports, masked assailants entered the residence, ordering a witness to the floor and covering their head. The intruders then dragged Nelson into another room, where he was beaten and shot multiple times. The witness was left unharmed.
