On February 27, 2022, Jesus Alberta Lara Munoz, a 30-year-old man, was found shot to death in the driver's seat of his car outside a South Nashville billiard hall in the 1000 block of Murfreesboro Pike. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was believed to have died between midnight and 1 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing a man, later identified as 34-year-old Jose Claros-Barahona, with a gun near Munoz's vehicle when the shots were fired.
Claros-Barahona was arrested and charged with criminal homicide.
During the investigation, police revealed that Munoz was also known by the alias Christopher Cardenas. Despite the arrest, a Davidson County grand jury declined to indict Claros-Barahona in September 2022. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and police have not yet identified any witnesses or additional suspects.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the circumstances surrounding Munoz's death and the subsequent legal proceedings. The Metro Nashville Police Department continues to seek information from the public, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
