On the evening of April 19, 2024, Dorsey Dean Moorlet, a 37-year-old Black male, was fatally shot outside his apartment at the Forest Park Apartments on Highway 70 South in the Bellevue area of Nashville, Tennessee. Moorlet was reportedly leaving for work around 10:15 p.m. but had briefly returned to his apartment to retrieve a forgotten item when he was shot multiple times near his front door.
