On September 8, 2020, Demarcus Thompson, a 30-year-old man from Smyrna, Tennessee, was shot and killed in a parking lot along Nolensville Pike at Ocala Drive in South Nashville. According to Metro Nashville Police, Thompson was shot in the head after he exited his vehicle. The shooter, who was driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with temporary tags and damage to the driver's side door, fled the scene northbound on Nolensville Pike.
