On a Tuesday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 30-year-old Demarcus Thompson was tragically cut short. On September 8, 2020, Thompson, a resident of nearby Smyrna, pulled his vehicle into a parking lot at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Ocala Drive. Another vehicle, a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, entered the same parking lot.
Shortly after exiting his own vehicle, Thompson was shot in the head.
The assailant or assailants fled the scene, heading northbound on Nolensville Pike in the black Jeep. Authorities later noted that the suspect vehicle had a temporary license plate and sustained damage to the front on the driver's side.
South Precinct detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department were assigned to the case and began an investigation into the fatal shooting. They publicly sought assistance in identifying the black Jeep Grand Cherokee and its occupants, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Despite the initial investigation and the description of the suspect vehicle being released to the public, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murder of Demarcus Thompson.
