In February 2021, a 32-year-old man named David Hernandez was tragically killed in a fatal shooting in Nashville, Tennessee. The incident unfolded in the 900 block of Morrison Street, where Hernandez was discovered shot inside a vehicle. For 22 months, the case remained under investigation as detectives from the Homicide Unit meticulously pieced together the events that led to his untimely death.
The extensive investigation eventually led to a breakthrough, resulting in the indictment of
two individuals in connection with the murder of David Hernandez. Dimetrius Ford, 31, and his girlfriend, Carlissia Jones, 24, were both charged with first-degree murder. Investigators determined that Ford and Jones had traveled to Nashville just a few days before the homicide. It is alleged that Ford contacted Hernandez and instructed him to drive to Morrison Street, the location where the fatal shooting occurred.
The motive for the killing is believed to be connected to the illegal drug trade. Following the indictments, Carlissia Jones was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and was slated for extradition back to Nashville to face the charges against her. Dimetrius Ford was already incarcerated in Rutherford County on separate charges related to a March 2021 murder. Upon the conclusion of that case, he was to be transported to Nashville to face the first-degree murder charge for the death of David Hernandez.
