On January 17, 2020, in Nashville, Tennessee, 51-year-old James Span, an African American male, was discovered deceased in the driver's seat of a Dodge minivan in an alley behind an apartment complex in the 800 block of Taylor Street. Witnesses reported that Span had been involved in an argument with another individual inside an apartment in the same block.
