Upon arrival, they found a victim, identified as Raymond White, with gunshot wounds to his stomach, leg, and foot. Witnesses at the scene reported that a Black Dodge Avenger had pulled up and someone from within the vehicle began shooting at the victim who was standing outside. The shooter, identified by witnesses as Dekai Giles, then fled the scene heading north. Giles, who was 22 years old at the time, later surrendered to investigators and was charged with attempted murder. The victim was transported to a hospital in Memphis in critical condition.
