In the winter of 2022, a life was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. Julius Jamiz Sanford, a 28-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on December 26th. The incident occurred around 11:50 a.m. inside a rental vehicle located in the 1400 block of County Hospital Road.
According to investigations by the Metro Nashville Police Department, Sanford was involved in an altercation with another individual inside the car.
This dispute escalated, resulting in Sanford being shot in the chest. Following the shooting, the gunman exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Emergency services rushed Sanford to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
The investigation into Sanford's death was led by the Homicide Unit. Detectives actively pursued leads in the case and identified a suspect. On January 7, 2023, Gregory Q. Wilson, 31, turned himself in to the Metro Nashville police. He was subsequently charged with criminal homicide in connection with the fatal shooting of Julius Sanford and was held on a $500,000 bond.
