In Nashville, Tennessee, a 29-year-old man named Anthony Barbee lost his life to gun violence on January 26, 2015. A suspect was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting, which took place at an apartment complex in the northern part of the city.
In a separate incident on September 25, 2020, in Nashville, 44-year-old Jeremy Barbee was fatally shot in the 2300 block of Ilolo Street around 6:15 p.m.. The events leading to his death began when Desontae Evans, 27, and his father, Douglas Evans, 63, were driving and found their path blocked by two vehicles. From these vehicles, John Eisom, 44, emerged with a crowbar, and Barbee appeared armed with a pistol.
Eisom and Barbee allegedly pulled Desontae Evans from his vehicle and began striking him with the crowbar. Hearing gunshots during the assault and fearing for his son's life, Douglas Evans retrieved his own gun and fired, hitting both Eisom and Barbee. Jeremy Barbee died at the scene of the confrontation. Eisom was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. Desontae Evans was also shot during the altercation and was taken to Skyline Medical Center. The investigation into the incident, which is believed to have stemmed from an earlier dispute, was ongoing, and no charges had been filed at the time of the initial reports.
