On a Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee, a verbal altercation inside the Trvth Lounge on Dickerson Pike tragically escalated, leading to the death of 35-year-old Chancellor Eddins. The dispute, which occurred on February 18, 2023, spilled outside, where shots were fired as Eddins and a friend were leaving the establishment. Responding officers discovered Eddins on the ground just outside the bar's entrance, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His companion was also struck by gunfire but was transported to a local medical center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Homicide detectives began an investigation into the shooting, pursuing leads to identify the person responsible for Eddins' death. Their efforts eventually led them to name LaGarrion Blacksmith, then 34, as the suspect. In November 2023, arrest warrants were issued for Blacksmith, charging him with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and being a felon in possession of a handgun. However, authorities were initially unable to locate him.
After a lengthy search, the investigation culminated in the arrest of LaGarrion Blacksmith, then 36, in Atlanta, Georgia. The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between TITANS Unit detectives and the Atlanta Police Department. Blacksmith is expected to be returned to Nashville to face the charges related to the fatal shooting of Chancellor Eddins.
