On December 17, 2020, Jamaal Zakiya, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot at Whispering Oaks Apartments on Tanglewood Court in South Nashville. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. during an argument with Kardeceo Dardy, a 20-year-old acquaintance. The argument reportedly began over money and escalated when Zakiya refused to drive Dardy home until he received gas money.
