In Nashville, Tennessee, on the evening of December 17, 2020, a dispute over money between two acquaintances escalated into a fatal encounter. Jamaal Zakiya, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot inside his own Tanglewood Court apartment around 6:30 p.m. The conflict had reportedly been brewing throughout the day and came to a tragic head when Zakiya refused to give the other man a ride home without receiving gas money.
