Abdiaziz Jama, a 24-year-old, was shot and killed on October 25, 2013, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The murder occurred near Cedar Avenue, in the heart of the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, an area that has experienced occasional violent crime incidents. Jama’s death sent shockwaves through the Somali community in Minneapolis, which had been increasingly concerned about rising violence.
