On January 17, 2014, at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers from the 12th District responded to a report of a shooting on the 6100 block of Buist Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. Upon arrival, they discovered Benjamin Collier, a 29-year-old Black male residing on the 2600 block of South 61st Street, lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead.
