On December 14, 2023, at approximately 7:36 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 4900 block of Boudinot Street in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia. Upon arrival, they discovered 56-year-old Bernie Perez in a rear alley/driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers immediately transported him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Chief Inspector Scott Small noted that ballistic evidence suggested Perez was shot at close range. Despite a prompt response, no weapons were recovered at the scene, and the assailant had fled before police arrived. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in identifying the suspect or suspects involved in this homicide. Community members with any relevant information are encouraged to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
