On September 4, 2015, 14-year-old DeSean Fountain, an African American male from East Liberty, Pittsburgh, was fatally shot while walking home from school. Witnesses reported that he was carrying a backpack and was shot at an apartment complex in East Liberty. He was taken to Children's Hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
